RRTs are digital tokens that represent a limited-recourse obligation of the Bitfinex Group. These tokens are dependent on the recovery of losses by the Bitfinex Group and are subordinate to all other claims against the Group. The total number of RRTs issued is 30,199,822.40 as of November 30, 2016. Holders of RRTs are entitled to a share of the recovery only after all BFX tokens have been redeemed. The recovery rate is 1:1, meaning one RRT equals US$1.00 of recovery. If there is not enough recovery amount to cover all RRTs, the remaining amount will be allocated proportionally. The Bitfinex Group has the option to redeem RRTs at any time using various currencies or digital tokens. By owning RRTs, you release the Bitfinex Group from any claims associated with the recovery efforts and losses. The Group retains all other rights and defenses under the terms of service on bitfinex.com.
