pNetwork is a decentralized protocol that enables interoperability between different blockchains. It facilitates the transfer of assets, including wrapped tokens called pTokens, between independent blockchains while maintaining a 1-to-1 peg. The native blockchain, such as Bitcoin, can be connected to a host blockchain like Ethereum through pTokens.
The governance token of the pNetwork DAO is called PNT and it serves multiple purposes. It is used for staking in the pNetwork nodes, receiving rewards from these nodes, and governing the pNetwork ecosystem. The project was launched in 2019 and initially named pTokens. It started with bridging Bitcoin and Ethereum and has since expanded to connect over 15 networks, including diverse blockchain environments and Ethereum scaling networks.
With the introduction of pNetwork V2, pTokens become fungible across chains. Users can now directly move their pTokens between any of the supported chains without returning to the native blockchain. This protocol not only facilitates cross-chain asset transfers but also supports the movement of NFTs and enables smart contract interactions.
The protocol has already processed transactions worth more than 1 billion in value.
