Zone of Avoidance is an auto-battler game that pits players against their foes. Each player controls a spaceship housing their heroes, some of which can be enhanced with items. The primary objective is simple: outmaneuver your opponent with superior tactics and abilities, collect resources, and upgrade your crew.

The game incorporates NFTs for spaceships, heroes, and items, allowing players to buy and sell them on marketplaces. Top players will seek out the best heroes and items, creating a thriving economy within the game. These NFTs are obtained through Card Packs available in ZoA, with rarer packs offering a higher chance of obtaining powerful heroes.

Battles are simulated, with players selecting their heroes and items, arranging them in attack and defense formations, and engaging in PVE or PVP modes, each offering distinct advantages and rewards. Regardless of the opponent, every battle consumes Fuel, which automatically recharges over time. Once the Fuel is depleted, players must wait for it to replenish before battling again.

In the PVE game mode, players embark on a loosely structured campaign as they journey towards the Zone of Avoidance, encountering increasingly challenging enemies to defeat for $ZOA and $ZGO tokens. Additional tokens can be earned through special events, the NFT marketplace, and by renting out heroes and spaceships to other players. These tokens serve multiple purposes, including crafting, upgrades, stacking, farming programs, and purchasing NFTs at discounted rates.

The PVP game mode pits players against each other. ZoA automatically matches players and simulates the battle, while the user actively oversees their attacking team against another player's defending team. Defending players do not need to be online during this phase, as the defending formation will resolve the battle automatically, even when they are away. Victorious players earn tokens and increase their rank.

Both $ZOA and $ZGO tokens are essential for advancing in the game. Smaller upgrades can be acquired with $ZGO, while major upgrades require spending $ZOA tokens as well. ZoA also introduces a secondary token primarily used for governance, enabling the in-game economy to operate independently without impacting the value of tokens held by investors. Governance tokens unlock various benefits within the broader ecosystem and must be burned for specific ultra-Elite upgrades.
