They have the option to charge a settlement fee for their services per trade, allowing for a democratized exchange process. Essentially, SDOs act as nodes within the Decentralized Settlement Layer, receiving trading data, facilitating trade settlement, and granting SDO operators a stake in the trade and settlement process.
