NUM Finance is a project that aims to create stable cryptocurrencies, known as Num Stablecoins, that are linked to the value of emerging market currencies. Unlike most stablecoins that track the currencies of developed nations, such as the US dollar, NUM Finance focuses on currencies from emerging economies like Latin American markets. Its goal is to provide access to cryptocurrencies and decentralized finance to millions of individuals and businesses in these countries, where monetary issues like inflation, capital controls, and lack of credit access are prevalent. By introducing Num Stablecoins, NUM Finance aims to strengthen local currencies and empower market participants. Founded in 2021, the project was developed by Mariano di Pietrantonio, who has prior experience with MakerDAO, the organization behind the decentralized stablecoin DAI. The first stablecoin launched by NUM Finance in 2021 is the Num ARS (nuARS), which tracks the Argentine peso.
